The Perfect Practice: Exercising Love

They say practice makes perfect. And although we already have the best teacher, it is our duty to remain close to Him. Let us meditate through prayer in order to find that moment of peace in which silence covers everything.

“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Take refuge in prayer

Let us meditate through prayer to find that moment of peace where silence covers all, where the only sound is our heartbeat.

That is how we will sense what God is trying to tell us through the Spirit. This is an act of recollection and requires constant practice.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2

Speak to Christ

In the same way that He speaks to us through our heart during prayer, we also do it for other reasons. Of course we return to Christ when we need His divine intervention, but we must not forget to thank Him for what we have already been blessed with. Tell Christ how much you need Him but also how much you love Him; say please and thank you to Him as well.

“You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.' ” Psalms 91:1-2

Read the Holy Bible

According to many people, this practice can either be the easiest or hardest of them all. And its ambiguity resides in maintaining the routine of this exercise for a long time. People often begin to read verses in the Bible periodically, but then they lose interest. We need to just remember that it is where the lessons of our Holy Teacher are found. An example to follow.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

Perform a good deed every day

Set it as a goal for you to follow for a month, but you don't want to set impossible goals. This way you will ensure success, and you will be able to prove it when you begin to experience a spontaneous joy, which is a product of seeing the joy in the face of those you have helped. A highly contagious joy.

“Do not envy the violent and do not choose any of their ways; for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.” Proverbs 3:31-32

Talk to someone about Christ

Under the premise of "that the whole world know", it is another one of our missions as Christ's children, taking His word to the whole world, so that everyone can learn of His eternal love, of His incredible feats, and that He will return once more to save us and give us eternal life in paradise alongside God the Father.
