5 rules for overcoming uncertainty and distress

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 

Through Prayer, we have the wonderful possibility to be closer to the Lord and to transform negative thoughts into lasting trust in Christ.

That is why we must ask our Heavenly Father with all our strength to replace despair with equilibrium, anguish with the peace of the Spirit, and the feeling of loneliness with the certainty of having the Highest constantly at our side.

The Lord will bring light into our lives, listening to our petitions and easing our burdens. Let us remember the words of John, the apostle: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1).

 

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

The current situation is alarming and this will probably lead us to a state of discouragement that does not allow us to see beyond the seriousness of the situation.

In the most critical moments, we should always know that the Lord exhorts us to think positively.

God has given us Gifts and Virtues, He has empowered us as individuals and perhaps this is a good opportunity to develop that talent that we have left aside because we are focused on other variables in life.

Concentrating on positive thoughts, we open the doors to positive attitudes and activities that are, in short, the actions that will make us walk safely on God's path without losing His direction.


“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

In times of plagues and confusion, a vital characteristic that we must not lose sight of is to maintain our commitment to the Lord's Work. God is almighty and demonstrates His infinite strength to us every day. Let us use that example to sign our commitment to Him, knowing that He will never forsake us and that only He can ease our burdens.

 

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.” Psalms 62:1  

One of the most evident symptoms that we are moving away from the path that God has written with our name, is to let irritability win our hearts, transforming us into impulsive and selfish beings. That is why it is very necessary to maintain, with strength and conviction, a Spirit of gratitude that will keep worries and fear away from us.

Are we willing to change our attitude to honor God?

When we seek refuge in Christ, with a serene spirit and humility, we have the certainty that peace will be reborn within us and that together with the Wisdom granted by the Lord will give us the balance to better understand the role we play in the Plan He has created for us.


“Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19

Even though we are going through a difficult time, we cannot forget that God loves and protects us. Let us develop the gift of patience, be generous and maintain serenity. The state of quarantine is a good time to, from our anguish and fears, find spiritual growth in Jesus. Let us generate pleasant atmospheres, let us make room for silence to congregate in prayer, let us trust that the Grace of the Lord will always guide us on the path of Salvation in these times of global pandemic.
