Generating Habits for Reading the Bible in the New Year

Creating appropriate moments and spaces for spiritual connection will be key in the new year. Find in the following article ways to create a special routine for yourself.

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18

Always keeping this manual of life in mind makes us understand how God and the Holy Spirit can always be present and guiding us along our path. These reasons will help you walk your path in peace.

Just as God our holy father, who loves without judging all his children equally, so must we. Knowing that whatever we do on earth that is worthy of the Lord's love, we will be richly rewarded in heaven when we are close to him for all eternity.

Because we know that many times, no matter how much love we may cultivate, it is very difficult for us to forgive and to put aside the resentment that invades us and eats away at us when someone offends us.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2

The Holy Scriptures teach us to put aside our pride and to harbor a feeling of humility in order to thereby rid ourselves of all negative feelings that stand as a high wall between our hearts and forgiveness.

For while we know that reading the Holy Word nourishes our spirit, putting it into practice completes the task by strengthening our Faith, the fundamental pillar that allows us to remain on the path of the Lord.

Let us remember that there is no greater satisfaction than knowing that we are doing good, and if our teacher is Jesus, the reward will be doubly gratifying: to be worthy of his love.

What good does it do us to accumulate riches if we have no one to share them with? What feeling does it give us to see our brother with nothing when we have too much?

"The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and goingboth now and forevermore." Psalm 121:7-8

This little exercise mainly helps us understand why the Holy Word tells us to be generous; true wealth lies in the spiritual, which is worth and endures more than the material.

Giving thanks at all times cultivates a feeling of humility and awareness of all that is given to us, while at the same time it gives us a lesson on the importance of meditating well on our words when asking, and thus asking only for what is necessary at the necessary moment.

Reading the Bible is a special moment that helps us to keep our spirit nourished and to be closer to God. It helps us to remember that our path in life must be guided by unconditional love and forgiveness, as well as by humility and generosity. It also reminds us that true wealth is not found in the material, but in the spiritual.

By taking a few minutes each day to read the Scriptures, we are inviting God and the Holy Spirit to be present in our lives and to guide us on our journey. We are also strengthening our faith and remembering our mission in life: to do good and to be worthy of God's love.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24

Generating these types of routines will help us to reflect on our actions and decisions of the day, and to examine our hearts for grudges or unnecessary situations that we should let go of.

It also encourages us to be generous and to remember that the most important thing in life is the spiritual, not the material.

Creating a routine to read the Bible daily is a habit that helps us to keep our spirit nourished and to be closer to God, strengthens our faith and reminds us of our mission in life.

It also encourages us to be kind, humble and generous people, and helps us reflect on our actions and decisions. If you haven't already done so, start incorporating this habit into your life today!
