Connecting us in a special way with the Lord

In order to make a deep connection with the Holy Spirit we must prepare ourselves in several ways. Explore the next article and find it out.

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” Acts 13:47

The first principle about preaching is to want to improve ourselves day by day, remember that here we do not go with half measures and neither does The Lord, we must constantly seek to improve ourselves, to reach our maximum potential as God deserves. Let us not forget that we must make Christ proud of us.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16

A good way to get Divine help when preaching is to pray because in that way we will be immersed in the direct communication channel that we maintain with God and that will enable us to ask Him for advice on how to improve in what we intend to preach. Praying makes The Lord stay with us and enlighten us when we preach in His name.

“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-2

Self-evaluate yourself, because if we do not evaluate our preaching, we will hardly realize the aspects we need to improve. Asking our trusted people to constructively criticize us by sincerely answering some questions about our preaching will give us a clear perspective of our areas to improve. On the other hand, let us remember that progress implies correction, always starting from the premise that our preaching is not perfect and that there is always room for improvement.

Let's not forget that evaluation will help us identify the weak points of our preaching: Taking quotes out of context; not making a real connection with our listeners; having too little or too repetitive application, or simply spreading ourselves too thin can be some of the most recurring problems when preaching. So, once we have identified these weaknesses, we must begin to make changes to correct them.

On that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.” Isaiah 12:4

Finally, I am convinced that what transforms a message of Christ into preaching is the preacher's own heart that has been touched by the hand of God. Let us remember that the preaching must be sincere because, the moment it is not, this will be noticed. We should only let the message affect us first. Let us not forget that a heart impacted by the Word of God produces an irrepressible need to carry the Word of God everywhere in the preacher.
