Overcoming Daily Obstacles

Keeping calm, having a peaceful mind and achieving spiritual balance are the keys to be able to advance day by day on the path..

“Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.” - Romans 14:1

How difficult it is for us to control our thoughts and sayings when we are in the middle of a discussion about the Faith. No matter with whom we are exchanging ideas or arguments, our answers can often hurt the susceptibility of the listener. Other times when we want to expose or argue an idea, or want to defend a passage of the Sacred Writings, we believe we have the truth about the subject under discussion. Without caring about the other person or his approach to the situation, we are only interested in being above his argument.

What good would it do us, then, to always want to expose the truth and impose our own arguments if we cannot listen to what another person, different from us, proposes to us. By not putting ourselves in other people's shoes, we place ourselves in a selfish and unconstructive position.

“So then, welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him, because he almost died for the work of Christ. He risked his life to make up for the help you yourselves could not give me.” - Philippians 2:29-30

Not going beyond the limit of understanding and overcoming it with aggression often leaves us in moments of thinking "who are we?" "What is wrong with us?" "Why are we reacting like this?". We as brothers of the Faith, made a decision to follow Jesus.

That decision must be reaffirmed for thousands of times in each day that we live surrounded by people who do not continue the path to the Light. We will have to understand that the decision is personal and those people who have not reached their moment to be immersed in the Holy Spirit are not missing out on the goodness of the Lord, but rather they have not yet felt that need or they are simply asleep and cannot hear and notice the signs that God the Father sends them.

“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.” - Salms 73:28

Choosing Jesus as a travel companion in life is not like deciding who accompanies us on vacation. Many times it turned out to be a friend from our adolescence or childhood.

The same family or our partners were the ones chosen to realize and materialize the adventure that never ends. We would decide who would accompany us because we knew them in those circumstances (usually good times of enjoyment). But what would happen if bad situations arise where we did not know the reactions of who accompanies us.

For this same reason is that if we think of Jesus and God as companions, we will have more than enough guarantees to trust them knowing that we will count on their wisdom, calmness and enlightenment to overcome any kind of controversy.

We also know and count on their counsel, which is based on faith, and that gives us a state of tranquility when making decisions.

"You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” - Salms 86:5

It always happens to us when we no longer have contact with our closest friends or relatives. When this happens, because they may have moved away, had a family or simply went on their way to heaven, we realize how valuable that bond was to us.

The great advantage that we have with respect to our relationship with our Heavenly Father is that this bond will never be extinguished or severed and that is why we must take advantage of daily prayer to converse and deepen our faith and feel in our hearts the goodness of the Holy Spirit.
