“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalms 37:7

It is time to go home at the end of the day and the means of transportation are collapsed. The looks that inhabit buses and trains only reflect intolerance. Everyone is in a hurry and impatient to return to their respective homes. Let's imagine that in the middle of this situation, we come across an unexpected scenario. A group of passengers starts fighting and insulting each other for an available seat. What would you do at that moment? Intervene? How would you act in case such a situation happens to you? Have you ever asked yourself what your reaction is in situations where our patience is exposed to high levels of tolerance?“

“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Proverbs 14:29

Anxiety and desire combined in people's personalities result in a very dangerous equation. Sometimes we may come across people who have the ability to withstand situations without getting upset, and we find it surprising. "In most cases, patience does not seem to emerge in moments of extreme urgency or excessive and predominant fanaticism. Delays and certain moments of stubbornness test us. If it is unfortunately our nature to become irritated or exasperated, we must begin to focus. The Lord shows us that behind such an attitude a more peaceful and contemplative spirit can be prioritized. We must train ourselves and understand that such conflict can be approached and resolved in a more patient way since patience is a product of the Holy Spirit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Galatians 5:22

We should not then think that The Lord's plan is not being fulfilled if it does not take place as we expect it to or something we have been longing for or working for, simply does not happen. If the expectation is delayed too much, we must wait, be patient, because in reality that is the bottom line, that is our learning.

In our daily life, we can put into practice some exercises and actions to moderate our impatience. At the precise moment when we realize and detect our attitude out of place, we can begin to pray or repeat a verse that brings us peace and enlightenment. It is also often recommended to change certain daily habits that can badly predispose us to a fact of little tolerance. From changing the type of music we listen to, changing the type of culture we consume (TV programs, books, radio, etc.), to modify the type and methods of food we eat.

“Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.” Proverbs 29:11

The most important thing is to be able to question ourselves during these sequences since our lives are full of episodes where we will be put to the test. Clearly guided by Jesus, we will emerge victorious and full of Peace. But this will only happen if we have confidence in ourselves as we entrust ourselves to Jesus. As we are praying and dialoguing with our Father, we must daily meet his gaze and his Blessing, removing our gaze from the circumstances and really fixing it where it belongs: on Faith in The Lord, raising us above the difficulty.
