The Family: Our Emotional Shelter

Giving forgiveness and emotional connection with our loved ones a chance will help us overcome everything in life. In the following article we explore some verses that will guide you on your path of spiritual development.

"Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss." 1 Thessalonians 5:26

Family bonds are authentic and healthy when we are able to connect deeply with heart. It turns out to be a task that requires of every being a superior involvement since we must develop and not neglect a series of factors that are fundamental at the time of relating harmoniously with our brothers and sisters in the Faith.

This goal is achievable but it will depend on our attitude. We can easily reach this goal and, by adopting this attitude, we are emptying of content a value that has a transcendental importance in the path that we have decided to undertake with the Lord.

Let us keep in mind that, in order to carry out that act of Love that the Word of God teaches us, we will have to put emphasis on a series of actions that we will have to develop and perfect throughout our existence.

"May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you." 1 Thessalonians 3:12

It is vitally important to be able to relate to the people around us in a harmonious way.

When it comes to connecting and sharing with others, it is necessary to put aside the individualisms that feed the ego. For this we must be predisposed to listen, to hold back and to speak from the respect and truth of our heart.

The development of our gifts from humility and patience will keep us closer to the Holy Spirit. The desire of our Heavenly Father is that we can share life with our brothers and sisters at deep and genuine levels of love and faith.

"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12

God has created us to live in community, sharing our joys but also our heaviest burdens.

For that, we need to listen from the heart to what our families and loved ones have to say to us. The Word of the Lord is also present in our lives through them.

Sometimes it happens that we only listen to what interests us or attracts our attention. That is why we should be predisposed with a positive attitude, offering a gesture of solidarity and empathy with our neighbor.

On the other hand, we should also be honest with others about our thoughts and emotions: expressing ourselves with clarity and taking care not to offend.

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." Proverbs 17:17

As a family, the signs that God sends us will allow us to get closer to those people who know us and recognize us as their peers.

In the course of our lives we will encounter some scenarios more arid than others, knowing that in fertile soil the fruits of the Word of the Lord will grow without hesitation.

For the Light of Christ's Love to re-establish itself, we must rely on our primary nuclei of love. Those people who helped us to move forward and understand step by step the Glory and blessings of the Lord. They know us from our first moments and forged our personalities together with the Holy Spirit.

"Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all." 1 Chronicles 29:11

When it comes to listening to and holding our families, let us take the time to rebuild our bond with each of these people who make up our circle of trust and love.

Together with God, we will find a unique place of refuge and repair for our spirituality and our inner being.

If you really long to heal and draw closer to the Holy Spirit, the first step is to be in balance with our family members and people who truly love us and accompany the Lord at every moment of their lives.
