The Forgiveness: Universal Healing

When unfortunate events occur in our lives, we may take different paths. Explore in the following article how to move forward on the path of forgiveness.

"Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends." Proverbs 17:9

What happens when we suffer a terrible loss in our lives? What is the first feeling we may experience when we learn of someone's departure?

Every day, events of this kind happen all over the world. Many times we ask ourselves "Why is this happening to me?" "Did I deserve for them to go like that?"

We don't have to generate negative feelings or guilt. These types of scenarios are proposals and tests that the Lord puts to each of his sons and daughters so that we learn to heal.

By forgiving those around us in life, we are giving them the doors of our heart, without forgetting that the Savior showed us all his mercy on the Cross.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:32

Of course, there is no immediate consolation that can make the anguish disappear at such moments. But we must not forget that these people accompanied us on our journey.

The rejection generated by our attitude of pushing away those who many times do or say something to us that we do not consider adequate, limits us and establishes a barrier over that being.

"Will we be able to forgive who hurts us?" That is the question we must always ask ourselves in order to be able to continue day by day."

“I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live” Ecclesiastes 3:12

Let us imagine for a moment that instead of being born in our countries, in our cities and neighborhoods, we would have been born somewhere else. Instead of being raised by our fathers, mothers, grandfathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, brothers and neighbors, we would have been raised in other, more difficult contexts.

Now let's try to locate in our minds that place: surely there are very different realities to the one we actually live in. People have developed in different contexts, with different needs, which may not have much to do with what we live and experience.

It is for this reason that we must open our minds and hearts to be able to fully understand who we have in front of us.

“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins” - Mark 11:25

This is not a parallel world, nor is it an invented situation. This is the reality of many Latin American countries where thousands of people are forced to do things they would never have thought of doing before in order to feed their brothers and sisters.

They are people who are discriminated against and socially exiled. They are people who do not succeed that the Lord blesses them and fills them with light, showing them the right path to overcome their problems, understanding that in reality the Divine Plan that our Heavenly Father has for each one of them will make sense very soon.

Already in context, would you not grant forgiveness to a person who lives that way and can be at peace with himself?

“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” Isaiah 55:7

We need to be able to understand who surrounds us, who is part of our societies and why many times these isolated acts cause us a certain level of disconnection and indifference. As brothers and sisters of Faith we must have the ability to forgive those who do us wrong or perform acts that are not in the good will of our Lord. It turns out to be one of the most difficult things but the one Jesus speaks to us about the most in the Holy Scriptures.
