The Importance of Doing the Christmas Balance

It is important to be able to recognize where we are at this time of year. The Lord will be waiting for us to celebrate the arrival of Jesus.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19

In addition to the celebrations, meetings, and good wishes that the end of the year brings, it is the opportunity to take stock of the time that has passed. Thus a year is considered a cycle, which comprises a beginning and an end, and although life does not end when the clock shows midnight on the thirty-first, it is the closing of a period of life that deserves some reflection.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

Just as at the beginning of the year it is customary to make a projection of the future, it is also important to take a look back and make an account of the events that took place. This activity is a good strategy to commend ourselves to God to fertilize the land that is to come, and once again, learn from His Holy Word, the best legacy that He has been able to bless us with.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

The important thing is to avoid the frustrations of what we wanted and didn't achieve during the year. Let us remember that it is of utmost importance to be surrounded by the beings we love, just as God preached. They will give us a positive vision about how they see us, which will provide us with extra motivation, absolutely necessary to be able to continue.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3

Aspects to improve are the main objective of any balance. One learns from experiences and thanks to the power of prayer, self-knowledge increases, which translates into benefits for personal development and to improve relationships with others, all grounded in the love that God tells us to share. At the end of this assessment, we will experience a feeling of hope and love towards God, awaiting the new cycle that begins.
