The Peace that Balances Our Path

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Part of the spectrum of emotions and sensations we possess within us can contain anger, nervousness and rage.

Anger is an emotion that arises when something does not work as we think it should or as we had planned. It can manifest itself in the face of a provocation, or in the face of an unforeseen scenario. It can appear as an impulsive reaction, which we find difficult to control. The Lord always shows us with examples that the best thing to do is always to try to remain calm, to treat with respect and love our neighbor and all the people around us.

With this premise and this basis, every time we face this type of situations or scenarios that trigger these negative feelings, let us remember and take up a prayer as a mental alarm that makes us really feel where we are.


"Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it." 1 Peter 3:10-11

Anger arises from a basic, instinctive function of people, which is intended to respond to a threat. Not being able to handle anger correctly not only affects social and personal relationships, but also generates harmful consequences for spirituality. 

This mental barrier that we generate without control can often condition our connection with the Holy Spirit. We will not be able to deepen our relationship with God if we keep our "guard" up.

The attitude in itself, already generates rejection. If you can perceive from a child with these behaviors, to older people who often fail to carry out a routine task in their homes.

There can be many daily examples that make us explode in anger. This is why we must have self-control. We can generate measures of containment and even prevention to avoid unpleasant situations. Do you know that the Holy Spirit is a way of peace to remedy this problem?


"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Psalm 91:1-2

You may realize that this type of emotional restraint exercise has a lot to teach you about how to deal with each other. It will help you determine how you connect with your loved ones, how you react to unforeseen events, attitudes that bother you and you can't let go of.

Take your time, act calmly and always think about how our Heavenly Father would react to such an unforeseen event. Put yourself in the feet of the other person, try to explore points of solution and empathic listening in order to get out of this predicament that generates anger.

If it happens to you, you can turn to the examples in the Bible. You can also turn for help to your friends, your relatives who know you best, surely they have already seen you in these extreme moments and can help you. 


"The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever—  do not abandon the works of your hands." Psalm 138:8

Today you will learn some ways to control anger to take care of your physical and spiritual health. There are a few techniques that can help you control your angry impulses. First, there is the famous 10-second rule.

When you find yourself in the moment of greatest tension, take time to respond. Do not speak without thinking, as hurtful words may come out of your mouth that have negative consequences and go against respect for God.

Take a deep breath, step back for a few seconds if necessary, and come back with a less visceral and more rational response to the conflict.

Secondly, breathing and prayer is fundamental. Breathe consciously, relax your muscles, say a prayer or recall in your memory a verse from the Holy Scriptures that aligns you with your Faith.

Finally, talk to the Lord. Our Savior will never judge you. You can share your own experiences and frustrations in prayer and you will automatically feel the release of that negative energy. The key to everything lies in learning to forgive. As Jesus did and as He taught us on the cross.
