Walking Towards Reconciliation of the Self

Seeking family reconciliation that allows us to heal relationships with the love that currently exists in our hearts. Learn from the following verses to find the light needed to move forward.


"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought." 1 Corinthians 1:10

In life's journey, we encounter various challenges, and among the most complex and emotional are family conflicts. Workplace or neighborhood relationships can be difficult to manage, but when discord settles into our own family nucleus, the sadness and anguish can be overwhelming.

What makes family conflicts particularly painful is the fact that they involve the nearest and dearest people in our lives. Whether it's a disagreement with a sibling, a dispute with a parent, or a rift with a cousin, these situations can generate deep wounds and, in many cases, a damaging sense of pride.


"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23

Pride is a significant obstacle in the resolution of family conflicts. In these situations, the parties involved often cling to their views, unwilling to compromise. This stalemate can lead to resentment, a breakdown in communication and sometimes even the breakdown of family relationships.

To overcome these obstacles, we must begin by understanding that tensions are a natural part of all families. Family relationships have their ups and downs, and facing challenges is an inherent part of any close bond.

When we find ourselves in the midst of family conflict, it is crucial to take a moment to seek humility and balance. Humility does not mean giving in to our beliefs or values, but rather approaching the conflict from a place of love and respect, just as Jesus Christ taught us.


"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:29

Instead of seeing the dispute as a battle to be won, we should see it as an opportunity to find a solution that benefits both parties. Let us remember Jesus' words in Matthew 5:5, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Humility and gentleness are virtues that bring us closer to God and can help us find solutions in difficult times.

Patience is a virtue that we often overlook in our daily lives. However, it is essential in the process of family reconciliation. When we face family conflicts, it is easy to become anxious or angry. But, as members of God's people, we are called to be tolerant and understanding.

Patience allows us to remain calm in times of tension. It gives us the ability to listen to others without reacting impulsively. Patience is an act of love and understanding, the opposite of anger and resentment. If we are looking for inspiration, we can find it in Jesus' teachings on love and patience.


"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:2

Family conflicts can be difficult, but they are also opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. When we face these difficulties with humility, love and patience, we honor God's grace and glory in our lives.

It is essential to remember that reconciliation does not necessarily mean that we must agree on everything. It means finding common ground, a meeting point where both parties can feel heard and respected. It is a process that takes time and effort, but it is a worthwhile endeavor.

By embracing the path of reconciliation, we are following the example of Jesus, who taught us to love our fellow human beings and to forgive.

Family reconciliation brings us closer to God and allows us to experience His love and grace in our lives. It is a reminder that, through love and mutual understanding, we can heal even the deepest wounds and keep alive the family bonds we value so highly. Reconciliation is an act of love, and it is through love that we find true peace in our lives and in our families.
